We are all very happy that this has gone away. As one of the forum contributors put it: it's a 'scroll wheel', not a 'change record wheel'.
No... we are not all very happy.. I'm very annoyed, or don't I count?
Like I said in my reply to the above post... Filemaker should have just made this a preference setting.
I agree. It should be a PREFERENCE.
(or at least a scriptable value, which can be set for a solution, a layout &/or perhaps allow user's to over-ride)
I also agree.
I'll order a gaming mouse and check if there's a work around, until they fix it.
But it won't be a pretty one
If it's a preference, maybe something like a checkbox in the layout or the possibility to turn it on in a script, everybody would be happy.
If you change your form view to list view you can scroll through the records. Not perfect but it might be better than nothing.
We should also concern the developers who are happy with turning it off.
So I just added this, this way everybody's happy.
It's the idea Beverly mentioned.
beverly if you want i can make you I coauthor, or credit you
At first I couldn't find your post, but now I see there are two topics about this.
Thanks, karina! You brought it up & I agreed. Now to vote it up. There should be a choice of some sort!
But mostly, I want to see consistency for mouse behaviors (all of them) among/between the platforms that use one. FMGo does not have mouse controls, but Web Direct does (via browsers), for example!
I recently talked with a developer about this. While most FileMaker users like the 15 behavior, some don't.
We actually have a function called FM.DisableMouseWheel in MBS Plugins for FM 14 to disable the mouse wheel.
For FM 15 we now have a new function FM.MouseWheelScriptTrigger to trigger a script if the mouse wheel is used.
The script can than trigger the movement to other record if you need it. (you can check if the move is allowed)
