As FM internally uses unicode, this should just work.
or is this targeting some other database?
Into what database are you using with the Execute SQL script step? And what xDBC driver are you using?

Thank you very much for prompt response.
I am trying to connect to IBM iAccess DB Server using ODBC.
My update and insert statements works nicely if it has regular text. It throws an error for French accented text.
Please let me know if you need more information.

The Actual ESS Adapter was developed with the goal of making it as easy to work with an iSeries (AS/400) table as it is with a native FileMaker table:
You can get a 30-day evaluation key here:
The adapter takes great care to handle unicode characters correctly. Once you add your DB2 table to the FM Relationships graph, you just do a normal "New Record" on the table, set the field values with your French text, and then do a "Commit Record". FileMaker will take care of generating the correct INSERT statement for you, preserving the accented characters.
