I'm part-way to sorting licensing for a Runtime and for this reason need to manually input a PID. Is there a way to find a PID for FM, but NOT via FM (I will later), on a PC running Windows 8.1?
I now realise I'm being a duffer. Just make a 'dummy' solution with a 'get(persistentID) field in order to get the code.
What is PID?
You can also just use the Data Viewer to get it with "Get ( PersistentID )" if you don't want to put it in your schema or a script.
Thanks. Though in this case it's a PC without FM loaded so I have to make a RunTime in order to grab the PID, hence the initial request just in case there was a cmd.exe command or something I could use to grab it .........though on W8.1 I don't yet know how to find cmd.exe either!
I spoke too soon. I've put an RT solution onto a USB, copied it from this to PC C drive and opened it from there. Unfortunately the PID remained the same as the file on the USB in my Mac. Since the get(Persistent ID) is in a calc field, should it update to whatever device it is on?
2nd Q: Can you use a RunTime licensed to a specific PID when that PID is a USB stick?
Did you set the field "store" option as unstored?
You're right; fixed now that I've unstored it. My Mac version had always been setting to unstored so I didn't think to check.
