    ODBC

    user26893

I'm trying to connect to 4D server v13.6 on OSX 10.9.5 using filemaker pro 15 on el capitan 10.11.4. Someone can suggest me how to do because using external data source i can't see the odbc source and using odbc manager i have a successful connection between the machine that are on 192.168.1.xxx local network

Only DSN that use "supported" drivers appear in selection, 4D is not supported.

Thanks a lot fro reply, may be a bug but with odbc manager (i don't know how) I was able to see the odbc connection available just for one time ... then I delete for making from scratch and now can't be able to see connection ... but i think that apart the fact to reaching the goal at lear the DSN connection from odbc manage must be visible

What ODBC driver are you using? (not the manager, but the driver that you set up in the manager)

thanks for Your support, as ODBC i have used the driver supplied with 4D server so the v13 version I'll paste here below the configuration file in the library/odbc/ directory

                here is the odbc.ini

Can you post a screen shot of your DSN (data source name) as set up in ODBC manager?

I can't confirm, but you may need to use the Actual Driver. And you may not be able to use ESS (live connection), but 'syncing' (data between FM and 4D) might be done with Import and Execute SQL (script steps).

Did you try the setup with the Actual Driver?

not supported = cannot be done. Sorry

However, you may consider making FMServer as the xDBC Source for 4D, if you need to sync data.

Sharing FileMaker Pro data via ODBC or JDBC

I don't know 4D and if that is even possible.

dearest Beverly, believe me not supported means at most of the time = i don't know how to tell You . Also the 4D ODBC driver shall not supported from ODBC but manual install make things works, I'm sure to reach 4D server due to the fact that if max number of user is reach odbc manager tell me that connection can't be done ... now I just need to try not ESS connection but scripting once ... I need to think how to automate all of this things other ways truly have no sense giving out a ODBC driver if it can't be used ...

I have this two alert from filemaker pro 15 right now:

                              1st

"You have exceeded the maximum allowed login attempts"

                              2nd

"this title could not be imported because it is password protected"

                              have suggestions?

It seems your username / password set in DSN (or your enter on FM when connecting) didn't match on the 4D database.

dear user19752 thanks a lot also to You for Your message and attention, I'm quite newbie to filemaker and odbc technologies so I've setted up user name and password on both sides. i need to set up just in dsn or both?

and last ... today i'll try to study odbc recomendation but if i'0m not wrong tables field and so on must follow sql convention right?

Carlo, you may go ahead and post in both English and your native language. There are many developers that are bi-lingual on this forum!

And FM help is also available in many languages.
