Slide control or multiple layouts for Web Direct?

I'm redesigning my solutions primary layout to be more Web Direct friendly.  I've been reading up on best practices and have a question regarding the use of either slide or tab controls.  My current Project record layout has 15 slides that are navigated using a custom script triggered from a sidebar style portal.  Since limiting the number of objects on the screen is desired for Web Direct, I'm wondering how Web Direct handles slide (or tab) controls.

Is the entire slide control - and all objects contained on all slides - transferred when the page loads, or does it only transfer the visible slide's objects?  I could break the slide into 15 different layouts, but then I have to copy the same sidebar portal and header information to each of the layouts.  What's the best choice?  Use a slide or tab control?  Or go for 15 different layouts?

Also, since we're talking Web Direct, can someone tell me if TextColor works in Web Direct on FileMaker 15?
