I think this is a possible bug in FMS15 WebDirect.
For some reason, when browsing the database using my iPhone browser, tabbing to the next field doesn't follow the Set Tab Order that I set on Layout Mode.
Has anyone seen this? Is there a fix?
Thank you for your post!
There are a couple known issues in WebDirect with a Mobile Browser where the Tab Order is not respected. Could you let me know which you seem to be experiencing?
-Drop-Down Lists and Pop-Up Menus are skipped in Tab Order
-Tab Order is not respected in fields (usually when fields are aligned in columns)
I look forward to your response!
I just tested the drop-down and pop-up menus and they are being skipped.
So I'm experiencing both:
- dropdown and pop-up menus being skipped.
- tab order not respected.
Good to know. Thank you! I will pass on the information to the reports. Currently there are no work arounds for this. When I receive further feedback I will respond back to you here.
Has there been a fix for this issue? It is really inconvenient for my users to have to select each individual field to fill out instead of tabbing over to the next field when they are done. Thank you in advance.
It does seem this was determined to be a design limitation as WebDirect cannot control the tab navigation behavior on mobile devices. I would recommend adding this to Product Ideas.
But ... that's not an idea, ... it's a mistake !!
My issue is not with mobile devices. My tab control is not working on web direct at all. I have tried on safari and chrome. I am running Sierra on my personal laptop. Filemaker Server 15. The tab control does work on the Filemaker Pro Advanced 15 client but not online.
I believe your issue separate from the Original Posters (theirs was with Mobile Browsers). I am also unable to reproduce any issue with Tab Control in FileMaker Server 15.0.3 WebDirect with Safari or Chrome running on OS X 10.12.1.
-Do you have this problem in a New File or Starter Solution?
-Are you using Layouts with the Classic Theme?
I apologize that it is a different issue than originally posted. I missed the part where it was specific to mobile devices. This database was originally on FileMaker 12 web publishing. We had been reluctant to transfer this one database to 13 and 14 due to the licensing. This database was originally built with a grant and since the grant has fallen, only a few people still actively use it and we did not want to purchase the extra licenses if it was not neccessary. However, with the changes to the Filemaker 15 licensing structure, we transferred it over to the FileMaker 15 and made it a web direct database.
It originally had the classic layout but I was having other issues previously and changing it to a warm layout corrected my issue with scrolling down the page. However, it still did not fix my tab order not working online. It works on the client, just not chrome and safari. What version of java are you using? What version of safari or chrome?
Tabbing from field-to-field (in a column) still a problem with iOS 10.2 and Safari and Chrome 55 but works CORRECTLY on Android 6.0.1 with Chrome 54. This is with FileMaker Server 15.0.2 running on Mac OS X 10.11.6.
This issue has been addressed in FileMaker Server 16.
