FileMaker Server (FMS) ceases to function correctly from time to time. During those times, FMS indicates that a single user using the same IP address and protocol (WebDirect, etc.) is connected multiple times or is connected when he/she is not. Users report that solutions becomes unresponsive during those times. They often close their browser window and try again. They log in and then the solution becomes unresponsive again. This affects all hosted solutions. At this point, the server will no longer disconnect any user when the server admin attempts to disconnect a user and it fails to close any database when instructed to do so. Backups abort unexpectedly (that's the message). A restart from the console or from the command line interface also fails. Our only solution (to date) is to restart the computer.
FileMaker Server 14 did this once in our three months of usage. FileMaker Server 15 did this four times in four weeks. Two of those four times occurred on the same day. This frequency worries us. We are looking like a bad service provider to our customers.
How to replicate
We have no idea how to replicate this issue.
Workaround (if any)
We can only restart the computer to resolve the issue. We are worried this could impact database files. We are also worried about the effect this is having on our reputation as service providers.
