I would not use the <!-- // (remove the //). You have a comment (which can be seen in the source of the document).
Also, to avoid the confusion with the escaped quotes, attributes can use the single quote:

as a comment it would look like this:
/* renderer = new THREE.CanvasRenderer(); */
