Performance when using more than one file

My application is local and syncs with host via file transfer. it is used both on desktop and mobile.

Solution uses more than one file, so I can update only part of the solution when needed and some user data can remain untouched.

My question is:

Is that slower for fmp/fmgo reading and writing among different files or does it take same time ?

for example I keep a log of all operations, that means I continuosly write data to log table.

Should I better keep log table on primary file or is that irrelevant ?

thanks.
