I noticed this with FM 14. Copy/paste straight from the license PDF resulted in a lot of gibberish, but if you type out the key in a text editor and copy/paste from there it works fine. I think it's a text encoding issue, i.e. the encoding for the PDF is probably UTF-something-something and the license dialog expects ASCII or something.
That has been my experience too.
Well, I finally got an answer to the Assisted Install. When you put the License in the Assisted Install, do NOT use hyphens "-", just put numbers in it and it works just fine.
Assisted Install for FMP 15 on PC.
I was getting this issue. (Long time assisted install user, first time seeing this issue).
When I removed the hyphens, it was better.
I still get clients who don't get the license number entered in the license field of the installer.
I have found that paste frequently puts a space as the first character in the license key. When the space is there the key fails. Remove it and it works. I have been very careful to highlight and copy just the key, but somehow that space keeps sneaking in.
I have tried it here (from the ESD download page - not a PDF), and it appears to work fine. I have sent this entire thread to our Testing department, and so far, they have been unable to replicate the issue.
When you say "copy the license from the software license page into the install application, the license gets mixed up", can you be a little more specific? Are characters getting replaced? Are characters switching order?
Try pasting the license code into a FileMaker text field, and then perform a calculation that returns the Length of that field. If the result is greater than 41 (35 characters and 6 hyphens), then more characters are returned.
I have sent you (taylorsharpe) a private message for more information.
Thanks, TSGal. Just pasting the numbers without the hyphens is working for us. That seems to have resolved the issue.
