To make the labels to fill multiple columns you have to activate columns and specify number of columns in layout options. (See top mark in my picture.)
A tip to make your work last over more then one printer, is to take control over the margins. (see lower mark in my picture.) It does not make any different if chose to set "reasonable" margins or zero margins, as long as you don't leave the margins to be set by the printer. That would screw it up when you some time in the future have to change printer.
