FM14 Loves to crash in RDBMS Relationship screen

    ahall03

Product and version: FileMaker Pro Advanced 14.0.6

OS and version: OSX Yosemite 10.10.5

Browser and version (for WebDirect only)

      Hardware: Mac Mini Late 2014, 2.6 GHz i5, 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Description: FM14 crashes quite a lot in manage->database-> relationships screen when there are a lot of table instances and relationships. FM13 never did so not sure if it has to do with more memory allocation in 14 causing my machine to crap itself or if it's bugs. A small bug is when I click on a table instance to highlight it, it becomes deseleceted after about 2 seconds. Same with scrolling down to view the fields in that table instance. Scroll down but when I stop it moves all the way back to the top of the list of fields.

How to replicate: Try to do work in a very large relationship map

Workaround (if any): Use FM13 which I still have installed to edit my relational db map

          Thank you for your post.

Do you have any plug-ins installed/enabled?  If so, if you temporarily turn disable them, do you still crash?

Please post the crash report, up to and including the crashed thread.  This will provide information why FileMaker is crashing.

Yes I do use plug-ins. BaseElements and 360Works ScriptMaster. When disabled, I did not crash. FM was still producing the inability to keep a table instance highlighted, or staying on the part of the list that I was scrolled down to.

Turned them back on after playing around for a few minutes and it crashed 1st time I clicked OK to exit the screen.

Since the crash only occurs with the plug-ins, try enabling one of the plug-ins.  If FileMaker Pro still crashes, then disable that plug-in and enable the other plug-in.  This should let you know which plug-in is causing the crash.

In regards to the table becoming unselected, does this occur with all versions of FileMaker Pro 14 or just FileMaker Pro 14.0.6?  In the Relationships graph, how many tables are listed?  Are there any external tables?

We upgraded part of our system to 14 about a month or two ago when 14.0.5 was the live release package. It acted the same way on version 5, didn't try any before version 5.

There are ~150 table occurrences in the relationships graph. We use tons of external tables from other files, including a few ODBC connections to SQL Tables. Those occurrences are also in the graph.

Are you able to monitor the network?  I am still trying to determine possible reasons for a table or field becoming unselected.  If you want, send in a clone of your database file so our Testing and Development departments can determine why the fields/tables are becoming unselected.  I have sent you a private message with instructions where to send the file.
