That's a very close description of a 'Portal'. Have the main ('Parent' - forgive the pun - record) as the Parent Record with the person's name, and then create a second Table to hold all the family members. You link the family to the 'Parent' using a unique number assigned to each Parent record.
I was thinking it might be a Portal. Thank you for putting me on the right track!
This is not as simple as it seems.
Each person can be members of 1 or more families... the one they choose to be in (via marriage etc.) and the one they were born into.
What about adoptees? They have a birth family and possibly two choice families?
What is important is what data do you want to put in the portal (child table in the previous suggestions)? I would suggest reading up on data modeling and Entity Relationship diagrams before arbitrarily implementing a child/portal
I will read into this.
Thank you for the advice!
