Has anyone had success with this issue? I'm using a Mac, and FMPA 14.
If the file is not encrypted, I've heard of, but never used, a utility that can insert an admin account into a FileMaker file as a way to force it open. If it's encrypted, you are truly out of luck if you can't recall the password used to encrypt it.
always try admin with no password first.
Then try admin with:
Do you have one of the most common passwords? They’re ridiculously easy to guess
If you have saved your password to your Mac OS Keychain you can find them from there. Otherwise you can contact your FileMaker support and ask to see if they can help you out.
AFAIK, FM Support can no longer help. There were a few utilities that could reset the admin-account, but smells a bit like darknet..
I've been told that FMI Tech Support should be able to unlock every solution.
You certainly have to proof by evidences that this is your solution, your legal property.
wasn't successfully as I called the last time for that, they said that they couldn't help [unsure]
I've used a program called Filemaker Password Recovery in the past to find the accounts and passwords. For fmp12 it doesn't show passwords but does allow you to reset them. It is Windows only but works.
That program and those like it will not work on a file that has been encrypted.
They will also destroy the .fmp12 file in the process so it should only be run on a copy.
