Filemaker developer license and Filemaker Pro User connections

Do you get Filemaker Pro user connections with the Filemaker Developer License?

If so, how can you download the FMPUC client software.

What is the difference between a Filemaker Pro Advanced "volume license" (apparently it can be 1 license)  or "license" ?

Is a "volume license" a yearly subscription and a "license" a perpetual license (without upgrades)?

You can host your database with FileMaker Pro, but there is so many more advantages to go with FileMaker Server.

There are several different licenses that you can use but the FileMaker Team License (FLT) works for FileMaker Pro, FileMaker Go and FileMaker WebDirect but for that you need FileMaker Server

            Hi,

what is it you call Filemaker Developer License ?

FileMaker Pro (for user connection) comes with Licensing for teams only. If you go that way, then you will get a link to download FileMaker Pro (for user connection).

Feature wise, FileMaker Pro (for user connection) is the same as FileMaker Pro, except it needs to connect to FileMaker Server to work.

A standard copy of FMP or FMPA will connect to a file hosted under FM for Teams without a problem or using a connection.

If You are referring to the FileMaker server from the 'developer subscription' aka TechNet, then You get a FM Server for 3 fmnet connections (means FileMaker Pro / Pro Advanced) and 1 connection for Go/Webd

The 'Dev Server' can't be upgraded, neither to to 'normal' version nor by adding connection packs

There are still 'Standalone Versions' available (aka old licence model with non-team versions)

For FM Pro (for user connection), is it true that can I install it on as many machine as possible as long as the number of server-connected users does not exceed the number of licence?

I don't have team licencies - but since AFAIK it's one installer (the 'usage type' is determined by the licence-keys), You should be able to install FM (team) as many times as You need - users can establish their version, as long as free connections are available. This validation happens when FM connects to the team server, not while installation. FM will stopp working after a short time if there is no team server available - but it will start...

IMHO... this thing remains unclear. Also, one single human can run as many FM team version as heshe wants - as long as connections are available

From a technical point of view: yes

From a legal point of view: sounds like you'd be breaking the license agreement.  With FLT (FM Pro (for user connection)) you need to cover all users that may ever be using FM; not just the number of users who will be using it at the same time.

If you have 100 people that need to use the FM solution, but you don't expect more than 10 to do so at the same time:

                      - with FLT you need to by a 100-license

                      - with Volume/Legacy you need to buy a 10-license and this option is likely going to be cheaper

So the cutoff is what the % is of users that will be using the solution at the time vs. the total user base.  According to FMIs number if more than 30% of the users will be using the solution at the same time, FLT will be cheaper.
