Is the Community Assets download the same as the $19.99 download from Filemaker?
My Community version won't install - it starts and then disappears.
I have a new computer with Windows 10, intel i7, 12 g RAM
Do you install it by right clicking on at saying you want to install as Administrator?
Thank you, I tried that, didnt work.
The "Do you want to allow window opens and after clicking yes it starts to extract files and when the progress indicator reaches the right side it disappears and I do not find any remnant of it.
Are you sure you have the local administrator account for your computer?
Yes it's the same.
Always works for me. If I recall, it's an .exe that will un compress the contents in the same directory.
exe-file will create a folder and put files inside it during installation. Sounds like you dont have rights to do that, but if you have local administration account it sounds very strange.
it probably does relate to permissions but how is this for bizarre?
I opened an existing database set up for ODBC imports and it worked just fine but the Starter File Inventory does not see the source DNS.
have you tried the compatibly mode as well as run as Administrator
Do you have the right driver for the ODBC? You need to have 32/64-bit driver installed depending on if you installed FMP with 32-bit or 64-bit. This is also very important for FMP to talk to Microsoft Office and since many users use Outlock as there email software to communicate with FMP correctly
Thank you for the response
I use Filemaker to access Fishbowl Inventory DB's on several computers. Fishbowl is a 32 bit Firebird database so I use FM 32 bit and Fishbowl supplies a 32 bit dll to configure the connection but my new computer seems to be in Windows 10 hell. I upgraded to 10 Pro, opened the hidden Administrator user but still baffled.
When I open an existing Filemaker DB residing in Dropbox, the Manage External Data Source sees the Fishbowl DSN and imports just fine but I cant get a new Filemaker file to see it even when both Filemaker files are open at the same time.
I need to figure this out K. Bruce Brown 714 235 143016027 Brookhurst St #G-503Fountain Valley, CA 92708
