    Close FMP (when trying to create a pdf)

    Draco

      Hi,

      I have a script that creates a PDF and send by email (via SMTP server configured in FM) in clients FMP (with Win10) works smoothly, but I have a client with windows 7 closing FMP 15 to try to create the pdf.

      any idea about the root of the problem ?

      - Windows 7 64 bit

      - FMP 15

      Regards

          Draco:

          Thank you for your post.

          To clarify, is the Send Email script step causing FileMaker Pro 15 to quit?  Or, is the creation of the PDF causing FileMaker Pro to quit?  If the latter, does this occur with any layout or just a particular layout?

          Is the user able to create the PDF manually?  If so, is the user able to send via SMTP manually?

            Hi TSGal,

            The monday I can prove what you suggest.

            This user has installed PrimoPDF, it may be that having PrimoPDF conflict with pdfhummus ?

              If the user uninstalls PrimoPDF and installs Adobe Acrobat Reader, does the issue still occur?

                Hi, TSGal,

                unistall PrimoPDF, install Adobe Reader, reset,...

                - Script that creates a PDF and send by email: Create PDF but with the following message (impossible to open pdf.

                Message when trying to open pdf

                you can not open pdf ... because it is not a supported file type or is damaged (for example, sent as e-mail and adjuntode not decoded correctly)

                - Create PDF correctly, in : -> ( File ) - ( Save / send records as... ) - ( PDF )

                  It looks like PrimoPDF caused FileMaker Pro 15 to quit, but now you have another problem.

                  What theme is used when creating the PDF?  What fonts are being used?

                  Does this issue occur for every layout or just a particular layout?

                  If you create a new layout, do you still get a damaged PDF?

                  If you create a new file, do you get a damaged PDF?

                    Hi TSGal,

                    What theme is used when creating the PDF?  What fonts are being used?

                    -> Tahoma y Microsoft

                    Does this issue occur for every layout or just a particular layout?

                    -> X

                    If you create a new layout, do you still get a damaged PDF?

                    -> X

                    If you create a new file, do you get a damaged PDF?

                    -> X

                    ... as I said before, this happens only on a pc with windows 7 64 bit.

                    In the rest of the PC and Mac the report is printed and sent properly.

                    Regards

                      If you switch to a different theme, does the issue still occur?

                      What Microsoft font are you using?

                      I assume "X" is a "No".  Either way, your first answer to "Does this issue occur for every layout or just a particular layout?" doesn't answer the question.  However, since you don't get a damaged PDF with a new layout and new file, it seems your original layout is damaged.  In the new layout, copy the objects from the original layout to the new layout and see if the issue occurs.  If not, then create the objects in the new layout.

                        <<< it seems your original layout is damaged. >>

                        ... If it is damaged, because the rest of the FMP customers, ... have no problems?

                        Error occurs in only 1 PC (win 7 - 64 bit), not at all (in the other pc and mac works well) and only occurs when you run the script (created PDF in the "Temporary Directory" - send email with attached PDF )

                        When I recover the database ... shows no problems.

                          I can not change the theme, the problem occurs in production (on a client pc)

                            Draco:

                            If the issue only occurs on one PC, then either the copy of FileMaker Pro is damaged, something in the user account, or one of the system files is causing the issue.  Therefore, on that one PC, create a new user account, login to the new user account, launch FileMaker Pro and access the database file.  Does the issue still occur?  If not, then the original user account is at issue.  If the issue still occurs, then reinstall FileMaker Pro and try again.  If this still fails, then something system related is the cause.  I would start with the fonts, since that could cause a PDF to not be rendered properly.

                            Keep me updated with any progress.
