The above is the question.
Yeah, that's your problem. Options in the View menu "stick" based on what they were the last time the file was closed in an unhosted (local) state. Unhost the file, change the setting, host it back up again, and you should be fine.
Do you mean you just want to stop seeing the Sample Data? Or you want to remove the option to see it?
Show Sample Data is an option under the View>Show menu in Filemaker when in Layout mode. I don't know of a way to remove that option from the menu...
Sorry, I don't want to remove the option from View-Show menu, I just want to turn it off!
Every time I'm in layout mode I have to turn it off to view the fields, which is what I want to see 99% of the time.
OK, so my answer above should sort you out...
View>Show>Show Sample Data (deselect)
Sorry again, not really. I want to turn off the option to see sample data - and not just for the current layout I might be working on but for all layouts. I want to to have sample data always OFF until I want to turn it on. So the reverse of the way it behaves now.
Are you working on a hosted file, perchance?
OMG Mike thanks so much, this has been dogging me for a long time!
Your my new Genie!
