    Adding a Menu Column?

    murphmorph

I have a primary layout that, in "View As: List" show all the found record sorted by sub summary parts Category, Sub Category, and Line Item.  The records also can be viewed, sorted, printed, etc. in several ways using different layouts.  Herein lies the user interface navigation problem between layouts.   Is there a way to create a menu column with buttons on the left side of the primary layout that works like the menu column on a web page?   I want the menu column to be the full height on the window while still being able to view and scroll the sorted records in "View As: List" mode.  I'm not getting anywhere using Tab Control or Portals.  I feel like I'm missing something simple.  Would upgrading to FileMaker Pro Advanced 14 or 15 help?

Currently I've created a panel of navigation buttons in the header that do the job but this is an unusual layout for new users.  It would be much better to move these buttons to a column on the left.
