please post a screen shot. Does this happen for all of the Layouts, or only some ?
In what way are they not visible? Are they covered by a screen with the text "no access" or some such text? (Forget the exact wording here)
Or is it literally a blank screen and "Show All records" doesn't bring them up to see?
Does any of the data appear when you click in a field? What happens if you export the data?
I would try doing a find for "*", the Asterix is for any character, in one of the fields you expect to always have a value.
This should show you records that have any value in that field.
If none are found try a different field. If none of the fields work scroll to the right to view more fields and try some there too. If none of them work then you have no records with data.
How were these records entered?
Did they ever show data?
Were they imported from Excel? This can result in a lot of blanks records.
If you change the view to Form, are the fields still blanks ?
I wonder if the font color is set to white.
I can do a find for any values, the found set is there but no record data is displayed. If I use form view, table view or list view the records are blank.
Here is a search in one of the fields I expect to always have a value. The records are found but blank.
The data is always there and a regular script runs to extract records but when I ran it yesterday the view was blank.
I exported thefound set to an excel spreadsheet, the correct number of records were there but no data visible.
The data is there but for some reason it is not visible.
Could this be the problem?
Check that the fields are from the same TO as the layout. Things can get weird if TOs are deleted and changed around.
if you export and the data is not exported, it suggests that you may not have any data, just empty records. Hope you have a back up copy of this file....
Yip. I have concluded that our data file is corrupted. My latest backup doean't include the very latest processing.
Any suggestions on trying to recover the data in a corrupted datafile?
Thanks for all you suggestions and ideas.

Launch filemaker without opening this file. Select recover from the file menu and select your possibly damaged file as the file to recover.
Then import any data that you can find in the recovered copy not found in your backup into the backup.
