you'll need to look up finding records within a script.
The critical steps are Enter Find Mode, Set Field, and Perform Find.
The formula you'd use in Set Field is
">" & GetAsText(Get(CurrentDate) - 7))
... or ...
">=" & GetAsText(Get(CurrentDate) - 7))
Thank you for your help. I'm a very novice user. I tried your suggestions in Find Mode (entering your formula into a date field and I also tried to go thru a script (but I'm not sure I was doing that right).
In either case it keeps coming up with this message:
"The value of this field must be a valid date in the range of years 1 to 4000 and should look like “12/25/2003”.
I'm in Filemaker 11 if that makes a difference
If you want to find records older than a week, then the find needs to specify "less than", not "greater than".
For manual finding you would type
into the field.
Note it is expecting US date format, regardless of what the display format is.
Script would look like
Enter Find Mode [Pause: off]
Set Field [ mytable::mydatefield ; "<" & ( Get ( CurrentDate) - 7 ) ]
Perform Find [ ]
