have been using Daylite 3 for many years but would like to migrate to SeedCode on Filemaker. Anyone have any methodology for doing this kind of thing? Tips or mistakes to avoid would be appreciated.
I don't have an answer for you but I've been looking at integrating DayLite (or FullCalendar) into FileMaker myself... is there a particular reason why you're moving away from DayLite?
in what format can you extract data from Daylite? iCal, .csv, ???
If you can get the data out, you may have import temporarily and then "match" how it gets put into SeedCode.
I found this:
iCal is a specific format for text:
While not a native "import" into FM directly the text can be parsed.
Speaking with Marketcircle, DayLite developer, migration to Filemaker is limited. I just upgraded to DayLite 6.0.8 Self-Serve. Because DayLite, I believe without evidence, wishes to be a cloud-only CRM, I am feeling migrating to Filemaker is a safer approach. IMO, cloud storage is too vulnerable to hacking. So, I am seeking a Filemaker CRM starter solution. (About to post the subject on separate string.)
"migration" is NOT going to give you everything, but if you can get the data (as .csv or .tab)
* Exporting as a tab delimited or comma delimited text file. Daylite
then you are at least able to get that. You may need to 'arrange' the columns so that they match what is in another calendar app or a new FM file.
