Create a Global ID field in your database. Then when you click on your first portal row, save that ID to your new field. Then create a second relationship to your second portal and show only records from the new relationship with your Global ID to related table.
You might avoid the second portal altogether. Put a popover button inside the portal row. Put the larger copy of your container field inside the popover panel. There are tricks that can turn the image thumbnail into a button that opens the popover with an invisible popover button such that the popover appears to pop out of the thumbnail when you click it.
Thanks for your comments, but could not get it to work. Here is what I did:
1. Created ActiveRowID (what you called the Global ID) to identify the currently active row in the first portal:
2. Set Script Trigger to run the 'Show large image' script when entering the portal row:
3. Wrote the script to set ActiveRowID to the ImageID of the current radiograph:
Unfortunately, nothing happens when I click on a thumbnail in my database. What have I done wrong?
The popup solution sounds great, but need more detailed explanation on how to set this up. Can you walk me through it? Sorry, still a newbie with Filemaker. Thanks.
Create on new field as Text and as Global Field and call it Global ID
Create one relationship from Global ID to a new Table Occurrence for same table as your old portal. Relate field Global ID to your ID field in that table.
Create script that do and call it Open Popover:
Set Field Global ID to ID from your old related table
Create script that do and call it Close Popover:
Set Field Global ID to ""
Create a Popover and in that Popover put field from new related Table Occurrence
In your popover set a Script Trigger for OnObjectOpen to run script Open Popover
In your popover set a Script Trigger for OnObjectClose to run script Close Popover
Place yor thumbnail field on top of the popover button. In the inspector, remove browse mode access to the field (data tab).
The above is simplest but doesn't work in web direct. another option is to give the pop over panel (not the button) an object name and then you can use button set up to turn thumbnail into a field that uses go to object to open the popover.
Thanks, got it to work!
Thanks, that helped.
