You need to update your OS settings to point to FM 15. What OS are you on?
i'm in latest OSX.
10.11.6 (latest El Capitan)
i have set the secondary file to default open on FM15. This I have done.
But when I hit the script from my primary file, to open this secondary file, it keeps saying :
The problem seems to be in the Script.
Just can't figure out why this script keeps forcing an opening of FM 14, when I have FM15 open; in addition, the secondary file I am trying to open is "Default Set" to open in FM15.
The problem is not in the script, or in FileMaker at all. It's either in the OS, or in your browser. (The fmp protocol uses the web browser first.) One of them is not set to open 15 when the .fmp12 file extension is used.
You may just need to reinstall 15. In theory, it should update all of this automatically when it installs.
Interestingly, when I am in my primary file, opened in the new FM 15, which is what I want, and I go to "File" at the top, and select "Open", and choose the secondary file from the drop down list, then the secondary file DOES open instantly in FM15.
But when I go through the script, if opens FM14 instead.
Script snapshot is at top, in my first post ....
Yes, I know. It's the same issue you were having on the other thread: External programs are pointing to the wrong application. We get this all the time on my day job. Reinstall 15 and see if the issue goes away.

There is another thread on this forum, which address this.
Unfortunately, I have solved the problem, but only by removing the previous version (14) of FM from my computer. When I did that, the URL with $file opened my secondary file in FM15 instantly.
I do not know why, but the URL script keeps defaulting to earlier versions of FM, EVEN IF THE FILE IS SET to FM15 as DEFAULT !
Only by getting rid of previous FM versions from my computer entirely was I able to get the URL script step to work.
It now works. And I must keep only FM15 active on my computer to make sure it keeps working.
I have versions 11 - 15 installed on my machine and have never seen this issue unless there was a problem with the registry (Windows) or the ... application catalog? on Mac. I still think something is wrong with your install, but as long as it's working, right?

You're getting a couple of quite different things mixed up here.
You have already told us you do not know how to set the default for a file.
FileMaker's File Options Minimum Version setting does NOT set the default version.
What it DOES do is what you have already seen:
If you attempt to open the file with some lesser version, generate an error and do NOT open the file.
What you need to do, in OS X, to control default version is:
Go to Finder
Click on a FileMaker file
Choose Get Info
Set "Open With", and choose the correct version of FileMaker.
ALSO, click "Change All" if the button is not disabled.
(The button will be disabled if this is already the default for all files of this type)
Very, helpful. Really appreciate your help.
