I have a calculation field ("First Name" & " " & "Last Name" & ", " & "Age"). and I would like to use it as a second field to describe value list. How can I do that?
Make sure that the result type is text. Make sure that it is a stored indexed field.
Then refer to it like you would a text field as your second field.
These fields are also from different, related tables. Does it matters?
It might. That could result in a calculation that cannot be stored/indexed and this can be a problem depending on how you set up your value list. The relationship itself might also be an issue.
This is what is happening. I was thinking that maybe there is a function which COPY all characters from my calculation field and PASTE it to a new one as a text, so I could use this new field to describe value list
Set field can do that. In some cases, so can an auto-enter calculation. In both cases, you have to manage how and when these calculated values update should one of the fields in your calculation be edited to have a new value.
To describe how to do this would first require that you describe your data, tables and relationships in more detail.
Your calculation contain Age, so anyway you'd need to calculate the field every day. Is the file hosted on server?
No, it is my "personal" base. I build it with FMPro Advanced 15 and in the future I want to use it on a my laptop and iPad.
So you can update Age using "Replace Field contents" in onFirstWindowOpen trigger script.
