Is it possible to format line spacing using a function?

I have a calculation field on a layout where the size of the text is set by a number field. Is there any way I can also control the line spacing as well?

Currently, I have line spacing set to 1 line, so it changes in proportion to the text size. However, even when using the same font (Times New Roman) on both Mac and Win, 1 line space is not 1 line space! Mac thinks it is the text size multiplied by approx. 1.1. Win thinks it is the text size multiplied by about 1.5. The problem arises when a record with a lot of text is printed from Win. It overflows, and the hard copy ends up missing important information.

I can get both platforms to print identically by setting the line spacing to xx points in the layout, but doing so defeats the ability to effectively specify the text size in browse.

Another possible solution would be to format the problem records in browse, but all of the formatting options are greyed out, and I don't know why that is.

Any help on either score would be greatly appreciated.
