On macs, these are called "preferences". It's been years since I did this, so others will have to provide the details or you can web search "deleting mac preference files" or some such to see how you might do this.
There's no guarantee that the problem that you have here is due to a corrupted preferences file. It's a good thing to try, but I'd call FileMaker Tech support if that doesn't work for you. (There's no charge for installation issues.)

Thank you for your post!
philmodjunk made a great suggestion to remove preference files and reinstall. The following is a pretty solid method to resolve user-specific software issues.
-Uninstall FileMaker Pro
-Open a Finder Window
-Click on the Go Menu and select Computer
-User > Shared > Delete the FileMaker Folder
-Click the Go Menu > Hold Option and Select Library...
-Application Support > Delete "FileMaker" folder
-Caches > Delete any "com.filemaker..." folders
-Caches > Delete the "FileMaker" folder
-Preferences > Delete any "com.filemaker...plist" files
-Saved Application State > Delete any "com.filemaker..." folders
I hope this helps!
Thank you, this was a far more complete approach then how I was previously uninstalling. This has fixed the error issue for now, hopefully it won't pop back up in the future.
Are there updaters out for FMP15 and Sierra now?
