Is there any other way of selecting multiple records other that using checkbox?
Please, kindly share your technique.
Please find attached file that Im working.
what is it you are going to do with the selected records? Without knowing more, I'd say your checkbox system is fine; but I'd use a number (0/1) instead of blank/Select.
About 14% more elegant.
You could also write the ITEM ID MATCH FIELD into a $$Var and then do something once user was done clicking on rows. At least that way you are not "touching" any data as with the checkboxes. Of course, you'd have to manage the variable - Start (clear $$Select) and Stop ( do something with the data in $$Select) buttons or something.
List($$Select;Inventory::ITEM ID MATCH FIELD)

You could also set a color for any row being the active one (use the inspector). Then the user could see what they were doing. Of course, you'd need some fancy controls - what of double clicks? how to unselect a row? etc. The checkboxes actually work better here I think. Much less complicated to manage.

Take a look at the options demo'd here: Adventures In FileMaking #2 - enhanced value selection.
This file demonstrates a number of enhanced value selection techniques in a working file with detailed documentation about how each was set up and how they work. This includes mimicking check box behavior with a portal and scripted buttons as an alternative to the standard check box group as well as placing selection widgets inside popovers and slide controls.
