FileMaker Server 15.0.2 updater fails on Windows Server 2012R2

Hi there,

 

We are running FileMaker Server 15.0.1 on Windows Server 2012R2. We tried to update to FileMaker Server 15.0.2 tonight, but it failed.

 

We downloaded the FileMaker Server 15.0.2 updater for Windows from this page: Software Update: FileMaker Server 15.0.2 | FileMaker

 

We followed all the instructions on the page:

- We disconnected all clients and closed all files.

- In FileMaker Server Admin Console, we stopped Web Publishing and the Database Server.

- We quit the FileMaker Server Admin Console and the Start Page.

- In the Windows Services Console, we selected Services (Local).

- In the Windows Services Console, we selected the FileMaker Server service, then chose "Action > Stop". We waited for the FileMaker Server service to completely stop.

- We quit all web browsers before applying the update.

 

Then, we double-clicked on the fms_updater_15.0.2.exe file.

 

Windows asked us if we wanted to allow this program to make changes to the computer, and we said "Yes."

 

But there was never any license agreement that popped up, nor was there any "Update" button from FileMaker, now was there any FileMaker Updater progress bar.

 

In fact, the ONLY thing that popped up for a very brief moment was the dialog box that you can see in the screenshot below. It simply said "Installing Java 8 Update 101" for a few seconds, and then completely disappeared. And that was it. No license agreement, no update button, no updater progress bar. Just a quick dialog box that said "Installing Java 8 Update 101" and then it disappeared. Nothing else after that.

We waited for several minutes, but nothing else happened. Then, we noticed a new folder had appeared entitled "FileMaker Server 15.0.2 Updater". We opened that folder, double-clicked on the Setup.exe file within that folder, and the EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED.

 

First, Windows asked us if we wanted to allow the program to make changes to the computer, and we said "Yes." But there was never any license agreement that popped up, nor was there any "Update" button from FileMaker, now was there any FileMaker Updater progress bar. Then, we got the message that said "Installing Java 8 Update 101" for a few seconds, and then it disappeared. And that was it. Nothing else happened.

 

We restarted the Windows Server machine after that, and the FileMaker Server Admin Console still said that we are running 15.0.1.137.

 

Interestingly enough, if we open up the Java Control Panel, it says that we are now running Java 8 Update 101.

 

Furthermore, and this is probably a completely unrelated issue, there is another problem in FileMaker Server 15.0.1.137... if you take a look at the next screenshot, you will see that FileMaker Server keeps telling us that it is up-to-date and there are no updates available, even though we know that the FileMaker Server 15.0.2 update is available.
