I have 40 PC's with AI_DISABLEUPDATENOTIFY=1.... the only way to reactivate it is to reinstall on every machine? Yikes!

Thank you for your posts.
This default setting is intentional, as owners of these deployments generally do not want to allow clients the ability to decide to perform an update. It is up to the owner to use the correct setting. For more settings, see Knowledge Base Articles #7099 and #15636 at:

Understood. I've been using Assisted Install for years and have always purposely installed with AI_DISABLEUPDATENOTIFY set to 1. The point is, FileMaker changed the way updates are applied. Using the new method of "self service" updates is simple enough for the average user to work with. In my work environment, this would work very well and save a lot of labor and time, so, I'd like to use it. There really isn't any way to reverse the AI_DISABLEUPDATENOTIFY without reinstalling? This is baffling to me.
PS I mistakenly indicated a setting of 0,it was actually 1... disabling user updating via the FM client.
