it seem NOT normal
but the difference between the 2 cases is generally the trigger. Verify the field(s) which act as the trigger(s) of the calculation :
be sure A) the trigger is also a repearting field or B) you had explicitely specified it is not the case within the synthax : <fieldname> or Repeatingfield(<fieldname>)
I did not have any trigger.
in the layout put the field with all repetitions you have define in creating the field and then create a new record
The reason !
Even "fake", you have to setup a field that can provoke the calc to proceed.
could be the trigger...
creating a new record perform the calculation.
why you don't try?
Thank you for your posts.
Keep in mind that a repeating field is a single field that has many values. Therefore, when you auto-enter data into a repeating field, it will only appear in the first instance.
If you want to populate each instance of the repetition, then you will have to use a combination of script triggers to commit the auto-enter and then populate the repetitions after the commit. For example, suppose you have a field "Repeat" with five repetitions. Create the auto-enter data for the first repetition as before.
Create a script "Commit" that contains the steps:
Commit Records/Requests [ With dialog: Off ]
Go to Next Field
Create a script "Populate" that contains the steps:
If [ IsEmpty ( <field that is empty at first but will have data> ) ]
Set Field [ Repeat ; <second value> ]
Set Field [ Repeat ; <third value> ]
Set Field [ Repeat ; <fourth value> ]
Set Field [ Repeat ; <fifth value> ]
Set the OnRecordLoad script trigger to "Commit".
Set the OnRecordCommit script trigger to "Populate".
When you add a record, the auto-enter value for the first repetition will be entered, and the record will be committed, which activates the "Populate" script trigger to enter the remaining repetition values.
Let me know if you need additional clarification.
may be I did not explain well what I'm reporting.
In both the calculation is: Get(CalculationRepetitionNumber).
then in the layout let visualize the two fields with all repetitions.
finally just create a new record.
You will see, as in the below picture, that the field with auto-enter calculation fills only the first repetition, where the calculated field fills all repetitions:
What I was reporting is that I'm expecting the same behavior between the two.
Thank you for the specifics. I have sent your post to our Development and Testing departments for review. When I receive any feedback, I will let you know.
Yes, i can replicate the strange behavior indeed.
Our Development and Testing departments are already aware of this issue. Your post has been attached to the original report. When more information becomes available, I will post again.
