How do I use a solution created in Filemaker Pro in Filemaker Pro Advanced?
You do not copy files, you can use them at in place at a time. A FileMaker Database is one file that you can copy, but much better if you use the same file.
You can open up the database with both FileMaker Pro 12 and FileMaker Pro 14

Once you've used it in 14, don't open in 12 any more. There may be things youve added in 14 that 12 won't understand.
I'm trying to open it in FMP Advanced but can't find it in my FileMaker files
Please understand that this is exactly like asking "Where are my socks?"
We do not know where you put your socks.
These are YOUR files. Where did you put them?
Except if the file can be opened with a version that can use this function:
Get ( FilePath )
Then the location will be known for that file. Create a calculation field in any table and place on the layout so it can be read.
Once the navigation takes you there from the advanced version you can set as a Favorite.

I would suggest that you look at the filemaker documentation on how to open a file
i would also strongly suggest the FileMaker training series
Note that Filemaker versions 12 - 15 all use the same file format and the files all have the same file extension: .fmp12. So there should be no problems finding and opening the file other than the actual task of locating the file to open as others here have suggested. And this is something that, for a file located on your machine and not hosted on a server, is much the same as opening any file from any application on your computer: Select Open from your File menu and then use the standard open file dialog that appears to find and open the file.
If the file is hosted, there could be some additional complications--especially if hosted from an older version with SSL encryption enabled.
