Testing and Development is aware of the update notification issue when multiple copies are installed. If the version is up to date, you can disregard the update.
This might be resolved on Mac OS X by removing the com.filemaker.client.pro12.plist file in the "[User account] -> Library -> Preferences" folder.
On Windows, remove the FileMaker Folders located at:

When I submit this issue, Development and Testing are going to ask why the user would want two copies of the same application installed on the same machine. Therefore, please let me know why two copies of the same FileMaker Pro application are necessary.

Having multiple instances of FMP is very useful when you have to run multiple scripts simultaneously, for instance when one script is taking a lot of time and you have to continue to work for developing and/or using a database; In conclusion, in general it allows all of us to be more productive .
