Pay to get into your airlines lounge and they will give free WiFi. It is not to big of a cost and gives you free food and drink as well
maybe it's not so secure (I don't know - I'm no expert on this), but you might be able to use your phone as a hot-spot.

I'll be in Chicago for a week and I'll stay in a friend's apartment but it has no internet connection. I guess I found a possible solution:
All I have to do is to buy a USB modem and one of these plans and I'll be set, I hope...
If you have a suggestion better than AT&T please let me know.
That's an option, however, I'm not sure it will work. Our phone company in Mexico was recently bought by AT&T and they promised that I'll have service throughout all US without roaming fees, but, see to believe...
I have the verizon mifi and it works well in a variety locations to which I travel (including just South of Chicago).
Hi Bev, thank you very much!.
Did you have to buy a modem?, how much you pay?, do they have prepaid plans?.
I'll need it just for a week.
Never mind, I'll check it out when I arrive. Kind of a new sightseeing .
Yes, bought it, reasonable. I don't have prepaid, but they have those, too:
You may be able to research if it will work when you are home, too.
