Does anybody know why the dropdown list of the object state on the appearance section of the inspector gets too high? I can't see the other object state to choose from because of this.
It may more of a windows issue than Filemaker. But, sometimes changing zoom to show more will let you see what you need. I have also run into the same problem using web browsers.
This helps. Changing the zoom level of the layout solves the problem. Thank you.
still the same in May 2017. My computer runs on Windows 10 15063.296, FMP 16.01 (same issue wit FMPA 16 preview).
greatgrey suggested that it could be a Windows issue: I get the same result in FMPA 15... but FMPA 14 works fine.
TSPigeon, was that issue ever been scrutinized by Development ? It's kind of annoying: when the inspector is on the second monitor, configured to be over my main monitor, then the dropdown list takes both monitors height .
I tried again today to get the issue, but realized that I can't get it all the time. This time I got it in V 14, and not V 16. Testing a little bit, I finally got it in V 16. The thing is:
It's hard to tell if it's an issue with FMP/FMPA. That could be an issue with Windows or the video card.
This is not an easy one, unfortunately.
Strangely, this thread doesn't show in the Discussions list .
I don't see that a report of this made it to Testing and Development. I am unable to reproduce this issue With FileMaker Pro 14, 15, or 16 with a 100%, 150%, 200%, or 300% Layout Zoom with Windows 7 Professional. Could you confirm the following:
Windows Zoom/DPI (Custom Sizing):
Does this seem to only happen with the Object State Drop-Down?
I look forward to your response!
I was also able to find this under Discussions Content by sorting Newest Activity First.
yes it seems to happen only for Object Drop-Down, but it on and of, not a full time bug. I always work at 100% zoom.
You find the post only if you search for it, it's not listed if you go to filemaker.com, click on Community and the on Discussions > English. It's unfortunate because others may add to this discussion.
Now it works by doing filemaker.com, click on Community and the on Discussions > English .
I get this problem at random using FM Pro14 and Windows 10. VERY FRUSTRATING, I MUST SAY!! I have not found a work around.
try this as a work around, works for me for now. When it happens, click on "View" on main toolbar and choose "New Inspector Window". For me, it doesn't fix it completely, but the height is significantly smaller and i can see all the options. If that works you can close the original inspector box.
Never mind, this worked for the first few times then stopped working. This is really ridiculous, I am completely unable to format a button bar in any way because of this bug. PLEASE FIX!!!!!!!!!!!
Here is a screenshot of my issue. I can't select anything other than the first option in drop down list. I have restarted filemaker and tried all the other tricks i've read but no luck. I need to finish what I'm doing tonight and i can't without this working. NOT good FILEMAKER!!!!!
This has been an issue for over a year. It is random. I can resize the layout and move the inspector and after a few times it will start working correctly. I have a mouse with a scroll wheel, when it miss behaves I can use the scroll wheel on my mouse to change options.
I have a scroll wheel, it does NOT allow me to change options. I came from FM 12 to FM 16, it was happening in 12 as well but don't think as bad. Thanks!
Just thought I would try the "new inspector" trick again, didn't work with new inspector, but when i opened 3 inspectors it went back to normal. Then i went to 5 inspectors just to check, the last one opened was normal, closed that, next one was screwed up, closed that, next one was normal, closed that, and the rest were screwed up. This is so crazy but at least i think i found a consistent way to fix it, for now anyway.
Testing and Development is aware of this issue on the Windows Operating System. I have collected your information and screenshots to add to the original report. I will post back here when further information is available.
Thanks TSPigeon. It's been a few days and the work around of opening multiple Inspectors is still working. So for those of you having this issue, give that a try.
I have been seeing this situation in Windows 10 using v15 and v16; one workaround that works for me is to create a new Window, then close the window that was causing the oversized drop menu (agreed a pain but it works). The newer window created, displays the drop menu correctly sized. I have noticed also that Windows 10 Multi-tasking Settings panel has 4 Snap Window setting that can be turned on/off. There is also settings for Virtual desktops and Multiple desktops. I am wondering if this issue has anything to do with these settings in Windows 10 - thoughts anyone?
