Is there a faster way to delete records from an ESS table?

According to the best practices paper on ESS, in regard to deleting records..


"Deleting Data

Deleting an ESS record is relatively straightforward. The record is deleted from the

ESS table and from the local data cache. One thing to bear in mind is that rows are

deleted one at a time by their primary key values. This means that in order to

delete a row, FileMaker Pro must know the value of its primary key. For this reason,

the “Delete All Records…” operation can be very time consuming, since FileMaker Pro

first must fetch all the primary keys, and then delete the corresponding rows one at

a time."


Has anyone found an alternative for the time consuming process to delete all records from an ESS table?
