Check what plugins are installed for internet Explorer.
The PDF plugin there is used by FileMaker.
Maybe you have both and the PDF Architect one takes precedence.
Than removing that one could solve the problem.
Thanks Christian. The problem is Windows 10 no longer uses IE and according to Google searches, Microsoft Edge doesn't support plugins. I have a work-around in that I changed the orientation of the button bar to be vertical and all popovers avoid the PDF container. It would be interesting to find out how to set the PDF viewer in an interactive container field.
Although Edge is default browser, IE also is installed there. You can access plug-ins through old style control panel "internet option".
You can open it with typing "inetcpl.cpl" in Cortana. Then go to "manage add-ons" in "programs" tab. (sorry I'm not seeing exactly that English words in my PC)
Thanks. I didn't realize that was there. I disabled all instances of PDF Acrhitect and made sure Adobe Acrobat is enabled but Filemaker still uses PDF Architect when the record is loaded. PDF files opened in Windows Explorer use Acrobat, so very strange ghost behavior.
I'm not convinced that what you report here, which has been the standard behavior for popovers and both interactive containers and web viewers since popovers were first added as new feature, has anything to do with which PDF software was installed on that computer.
I was rather hoping that I was wrong, but the following screen shot shows a red interactive container field and a grey popover. The container field is empty BTW. This is on my windows 7 machine where I've never installed anything but acrobat.
Phil you are right. I created a new test db with a container field a text field and a popover. The first shows the popover open over an image container. All is fine. The second screen print shows the same with the container being interactive. Notice how the popover is cut off at the top of the container field. I guess this doesn't have anything to do with what application is showing what, just the interactive setting alone prevents the popover from properly being displayed. Is this a bug or a "design feature"?
