Show All Records
Sort Records [Restore ; no dialog ] ---> Sort by date in descending order
If [ Get ( FoundSet ) > 10 ]
Go to record/request/page [11 ; no dialog ]
Omit Multiple records [ Get ( FoundCount ) ; no dialog ]
Note: Omit multiple records omits the specified number of records starting with the current record. It cannot omit the preceding 10. WHen you specify more records than there are to omit, it will automatically adjust to omit just the records that can be omitted so any values from Get ( FoundCount ) - 10 or larger will work.
Off the top of my head:
Go to Layout [ YourLayout ( YourTable ) ]
Show All Records
Go to Record [ first ]
If [ Get ( FoundCount ) > 10 ]
Omit Multiple Records [ by calculation: Get ( FoundCount ) - 10 ]
Note that without a specified sort order, the records will be displayed in creation order, which I understand is what you want anyway.
Unsorting before showing all records should ensure that you don't get a performance hit when FileMaker tries to sort all newly displayed records into whatever sort order was in effect.
If you wanted the oldest 10 records and not the newest 10 records. Unsorting would be a very good way to do this. But not when you want the newest 10.

However, that gives me another idea:
If you find that it's taking too long to sort the records (and do not do this on a layout with a bunch of summary fields and the like...)
Try this approach:
show All records
Go to record [ Get ( FoundCount ) - 10 ) ]
Omit multiple records
Show Omitted Only
I made that example "quick and dirty". Didn't show every detail of every script and I might be off by one in that go to record step, but that should be close enough for those reading this thread to get this to work.
what would be the best way to display them.
If I do in portal and apply portal filter and obvs I cannot run this script.
So what would be the best way to display them. All I want is to display 10 latest records on dashboard form database table.
What I and Erolist Erolst have described here does not use a portal.
To see more than one record on the layout at a time, you can use either list or table view.
My dirty little secret: I don't believe in erolstism.
