I need to use a simple formula to hide a layout object.  Once the current data is greater than some specified date, I want the object to be hidden.  I'm totally befuddled by the results I've been getting, so if someone could point out what I'm missing I would greatly appreciate it.  I created a sample database- just a layout with the following formatting.  The squares on the left have are formatted to "hide when" the condition on the right evaluates as true.  2 is greater than one.  Isn't Get (current) date NOT greater than 12/31/2017?  I'm clearly misusing/misunderstanding something about how dates are used in calcs:

Thanks.  Attached sample file also.
