so what i want to do is be able to google an item based off of what its product name is so that i can create a button which will launch the url so that comparing prices for items would be easier
You could try a script like
Open URL [ "https://www.google.com/search?q=" & Product::name ]
to perform a search in your web browser, or use the same calculation to set a Web Viewer.
This is the most simple form; google to find out more about Google's search query format if you want to fine tune your queries.
cautions about the encoding of the field as it's pushed to the URL, of course.

My first version indeed included GetAsURLEncoded ( Product::name ), but AFAICS, Google handles the encoding on its own.
correct, you don't specify if this is web Viewer or open url or ???
