Take a quick look at the attached images and tell me what is wrong with this picture? The field is an unstored calc of related fields, the values appear correct, however they don't sort properly.
Result is text, language is English...
What's the field type?
And you mention that these are related records. Might this be a one to many relationship where you have multiple related records?
And are you using Sort Records to sort your records or is these rows of a portal with a specified portal or relationship sort order?
Sort Records only sorts records in the layout's found set, it does not sort related records. If you specify a related record in the sort order, it will sort the layout's records only by the value of the first such related record--which can produce unexpected results.
As I mentioned, it'a a local calc field with a text result (based on various criteria, including related values)
The number of related records should not really matter, I just want to sort of the result that shows in the calc.
Just sorting the list in table view did not work, as pictured in the attachments... the field is sorted ascending and descending on the local table and the result was the same.
But what is the result type specified for your calculation? Might it be number instead of text?
It's set to a text result.
So it may be hard to help without the calculation.
An example, if the calculation is unstored
after sorting with the field, records are not sorted
wouldn't the sort be completely dependant on the result showing in the field though??
Yes, but the value would change while sorting and after sorted, since the field is unstored.
Are you sure of the field is unstored but stay same value?
It looks all values are same while sorting (since ascend/descend not matter), so I bet on "it is number result" when reading 1st post, but it failed.
I'm confident that the values are not changing... I'll investigate more....
If you still haven't figured this out, perhaps you can use the advanced editor to share a file that demonstrates the problem for others to examine?
