    Grouping data by date range

Thank you in advance for your advice. I am not new to filemaker but am designing a more complex database than the simpler ones I have created previously.

Essentially I am developing a database to look at follow up of patients who have undergone surgery for weight loss using data from a large online national database. The format is not what I require and the solution is beyond my limited filemaker skills!

Follow up data comes in the following format:

      PatientIdDateOfFollowupWeightInKg
      870113-Aug-1364.6
      870120-Sep-1363.3
      870521-Oct-1188.2
      870521-Oct-1182.6
      870503-Oct-1394.9
      870620-Apr-1080.4
      870629-Oct-1092.3
      870622-Dec-1087.9
      870606-May-1181.1
      870608-Sep-1171.7
      870604-May-1274.8
      870619-Jul-1384.9
      870620-Mar-1485.8
      870615-May-1592.4

There is a separate linked data table with preop data including date of operation, weight before surgery and type of surgery etc.

What I wish to create is a data table with the above follow up data arranged as follows:

Patient ID1st FU Months1st FU Weight2nd FU Months2nd FU Weightetc...

And then a second table categorised as follows:

      Patient ID<3 month FU weight
3-6 month FU weight6-12 month FU weightetc...

I would be very grateful to the filemaker community for any advice!

Research "cross tab reports" here in the community forum. There are several different ways to produce the results that you need here. Filtered portals and summary fields are probably the simplest to set up, but also can have performance issues if you are working with a lot of records. Other methods using relationships or ExecuteSQL may also be used.
