I actually forgot to add this solution to my OP, because I did find this solution and tried it out, but the problem came back the next day.
Are you saying that a 64 bit version most likely would solve the problem?
No guarantees when it comes to windows. It could just be something with your computer. I would try the suggestions first and if that doesn’t work, think about the 64 bit version.

Any time that you have problems with a specific printer, it can't hurt to check the printer maker's web site for updated drivers. You might just get lucky and find an updated driver that fixes the issue.
That is correct! In this case though, the newest driver is unfortunately already in use on the print server.
