Global Fields are session specific, meaning it is one unique for each users. That is the good thing about Global Fields. If you need to set a field that your FMS can use, then you need to set a regular field

There are two ways to manage the initial value that a user gets in a global field:
a) Take the file down off the server. Open it directly in FileMaker. Change the value and put it back up on the server. Changes made from that "single user" or "host user" context will "stick".
b) Store the values in a table set up for this purpose where non global fields are used to store the data. Then you can either:
1) Use relationships--often the cartesian join (x operator) to link to that data for every layout where your need this data or
2) Set up a script that runs via the OnFirstWindowOpen trigger that copies the data from the fields in this table into a set of global fields or variables.
