If you want the chosen result from the Value List to be 12 3, then create a Calculated Field that have Standard length size & " " & Available Qty . Then set that new field in your Value List
Thank you Johan
I shall follow your advise. It is a clear solution.
It was quite easy in MS Access to do it. You can view as many fields as you wants with specified width of each column in a drop down list. If you do not want first field (normally ID) you just keep the width 0 and it will not show up. FM is lacking this feature. But I still love FM for its other plenty of features.
A combo box from MS Access has for decades put FileMaker value lists to shame. It's one of the very few things I miss from time to time.
But know that we have popovers and slide controls, we can produce our own data selection widgets that make up for much of the lack.
Take a look at this file:
It demonstrates a number of enhanced value selection tricks--including some that use popovers and slide controls. They each have detailed information on how they were set up and how they work.
define a calc
standardLengthSizeTabs = standardLengthSize & Char(9) & Char(9) ( use & Char(9) freely, add so many of them as you need, Char(9) = TAB char)
define your list based upon
standardLengthSizeTabs and AvailableQty
standardLengthSize and AvailableQty
and pilot the distance between the 2 keys by adding/removing "& Char(9)" in the definition of the standardLengthSizeTabs calc field.
