PHP API Basic Authentication setup

Question asked by declanholt on Dec 7, 2016

I've created a php file to output specific records in JSON for a connection to register users on a website.

Our Filemaker server runs on Microsoft 2012r with IIS 8.

I have been asked to add basic authentication to handle access security to the api URL, this is where my issue starts

The API works as intended without basic authentication but once enabled I always get the following error:

Communication Error: (22) The requested URL returned error: 401 Unauthorized - This can be due to an invalid username or password, or if the FMPHP privilege is not enabled for that user.

I've played around with our SSL setup and adding users to the IIS_IUSRS group however still can't get access with Basic Auth

Anyone experienced with this sort of configuration or know of a better way to provide security to the php files running the api?
