It's not really recommended, but it is possible. FileMaker Pro can host flies for other copies of Pro or Go to connect to as clients of the hosted file. SSL type encryption is not supported--hence the advice that you not do this. You have to set up "port forwarding" on your internet router in order to gain access to the hosted file from your phone if you aren't using local WiFi to connect to the same machines.
I use Pro with local WiFi to host files during FM GO development as a quick way to evaluate UI design and test scripts that can't run in Pro due to iOS specific steps..
Appreciate you. So the port forwarding only works when i am on the same wifi? I want to be able to make changes/updates to a customers file while i am at the clients home or business from my phone on FMG and have it live time adjust to FM at the office or another mobile device. I'll be honest, your reply was so far over my head.
The exact opposite, You need to set up port forwarding if you are not on the same network such as using your phone to access the DB while away from your office.
