this sounds like a job for Superman! Or maybe right-click on the text object that is the Title and select Conditional Formatting. You'll need to provide the logic that tells FM when to format the object, then how you want it formatted.
Use a script to sort and attach it to the button. Pass a parameter when you select the script for the button.
set variable $$param to get(scriptparameter) // you must use a global variable for the conditional formatting
If $$param = "x"
perform sort x
else if $$param = "y"
perform sort y
Select the text object and then select conditional formatting, try the right button on your mouse.
Create a new condition and use the $$param as a condition, choosing the text color of choice and italics.
Thanks for the quick reply.
I tried looking at the options for conditional formatting but I'm still not sure how to do it.
As an example, one of my titles is "Volume" and when you click on the Volume title the script sorts on the volume field which is great but I don't know what script steps I need to change the title of Volume from white to yellow and also be in italics.
Have the buttons set a global variable; use that variable to Conditionally Format the headers (you can of course make the headers themselves act as these buttons).
Thank you both,
Yes, that is exactly what I needed. Each Title script now has a script parameter that sets the global variable and then the conditional formatting uses the global variable to determine how to format the text in the title.
