    problem fmxdbc_listener

    aloisiobilck

The fmxdbc_listener process stops running suddenly. There is no error in the logs.

I use servers with FMS11 and FMS13. In both the process "fmxdbc_listener" stops suddenly.

      FMS11

      Windows Server 2008R2

      FMS13

      Windows Server 2012 Std.

To work, I started the process manually.

      What can it be ?

Did you install java updates independently of filemaker server's updater applications? Sometimes Java updates can kill FM services for no good reason at all if they're related (xdbc includes the JDBC listener, so possibly it's a cause).

As a note, FMS11 is beyond end-of-life support, and EoL for FM13 should be hitting around September 2017 based on the current release schedule.

Also, are you reviewing the system event log (NOT the filemaker server logs) ?

            Hi,
The java version we use in FMS13 is 1.8.0_45.

In the Windows event viewer I did not find any filemaker logs at the time the fmxdbc_listener problem occurred.

It wouldn’t be a filemaker issue when the event occurred in the system log, it would be something the system did OUTSIDE of FileMaker that caused the service to fail that you’re looking for.

So were you updating Java using a JRE installer, or the Java control panel updater?

I asked this over 7 months ago and you never responded...

So were you updating Java using a JRE installer, or the Java control panel updater?

My advice would be to uninstall filemaker and all updates to Java following these instructions:

Reinstalling FileMaker Server to troubleshoot an issue | FileMaker

Uninstall any of those extra programs and FMS after you properly backup your settings and files. Reboot, then reinstall filemaker server. Let FileMaker server install any Java updates it needs with any of the update installers, then don't update Java outside of filemaker.

Whenever possible, update your 11 server which is past end of life. Still recommended for your 13 server as support ends on September 22nd 2017 according to:

FileMaker announces the end of support for FileMaker 13 Platform | FileMaker
