Does anyone have the experience where FileMaker Pro Adv 15 quits unexpectedly when you issue a File:Quit command? I'm on macOS 10.12
What tells you that it quit unexpectedly given that you just told it to quit?
Do you get a crash report written to ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/?
If yes, can you provide it as file download?
Are you sure you are using the right command? On a Mac the commands are Close (command + W) to close the current file, and Quit (command + Q) to quit the application.
If you are sure you are doing this right, check to see if there is a script that runs when the file closes which also quits the application.
Here is the log file.
The Apple report appears
I've been using Macs since 84 and FileMaker since about '86 or 87.
The file I'm using has worked fine until I upgraded to 10.12
My FMP 15 quits on Print command
I see that first comment nearly every time an OS or FileMaker is upgraded. Sometimes this is the reason for the crash: The file may have some latent (hidden) file corruption. The file damage did not cause any observed issues until it's opened with a new version of FileMaker or the OS is upgraded. To rule out this possibility, you'd run a recover on the file and test the recovered copy to see if it does not have the same problem.
That suggests two other issues to investigate: First, you may have a problem layout. The Classic Theme has been deprecated and it is recommended that all layouts be updated to use a different theme. And the layout could have some corruption--and this can get by a Recover operation so you might test by printing from a brand new layout. Also, sometimes after OS or Filemaker update, the printer driver might also need updating--even if it works with many other applications with no issue. It's a cheap fix if you go to the printer support page and find an updated driver to download that fixes the problem anyway.
Some print setting are stored in the file. Doing a recover also clears all the stored print stuff that can cause problems.
Good point and you can use advanced recover options to only reset that category if settings without it making other changes to your file.
